Dr. Pooja Pherwani

Dr(Mrs) Pooja Umesh Pherwani is an alumina of Loreto Convent School and Swami Vivekanand Junior College at Mumbai. She has completed her B. Pharm and M. Pharm in Pharmacology from Mumbai University at Principal K. M. Kundnani College of Pharmacy and Grant Medical College, Mumbai respectively. She has completed her Ph.D(Tech) from Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) in the subject of Pharmacology. She has 23 years of experience (including both academics and industrial). She has worked in the medical department of eminent pharmaceutical industries and hospitals such as Wockhardt, GLAT, a division of Crossland, MGM Hospital attached medical store. She has worked previously at MGM School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bharati Vidyapeeth’s College of Pharmacy and Sterling Institute of Pharmacy. She has conducted classes and practicals for B. Pharm & M. Pharm students. In addition, she volunteers for and shares the contents on ‘Universal Human Values’ course at various online and face to face workshops for students and faculties. Having a keen interest in yoga, she is volunteering and is pursuing the Pranayam course from Sri Ambika Yog Kutir. She has published papers in various Indian journals and was awarded a,research grant from Mumbai University. She is interested in carrying out research related to mental health, alternate therapies in addition to conventional therapies.

  • In 2021, received a Certificate of Appreciation for working as a Faculty Volunteer during the online Student Induction Program held from 25th to 30th January, awarded by the University of Mumbai.
  • In 2012, a poster was selected for the Dandiya Prize Session at the Indian Pharmacological Society (IPS) 2012.
  • During 2012–2013, received a Minor Research Project Grant from the University of Mumbai.
  • In 2011, was awarded the Dr. K. S. Krishnan Research Fellowship for M.Pharm Sciences by the Department of Atomic Energy.
  • In 1993, qualified the GATE examination with a 78.09 percentile, recognized by the IIT/GATE Committee.
Dr. Pooja Pherwani has worked as a team member in various committees such as Academic, Examination, Induction Program, Universal Human Values, Alumni, etc. Currently she is a member of the Anti-Discrimination Committee and Women’s Development & Women Grievance Committee.
Lifetime member of Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India (APTI)
