On 28th December 2024, the First Year D Pharm students of SIES School of Pharmaceutical Sciences visited the Maharashtra Nature Park in Dharavi as part of their educational experience. The event aimed to familiarize students with a variety of medicinal plants, their uses, and the cultivation processes. Students were introduced to plants like Tulsi, Curry Leaves, and Mentha, learning about their therapeutic properties and importance in healthcare.
The visit also included an interactive workshop focusing on plant conservation, taxonomy, and medicinal plant uses. The students actively participated, gaining valuable insights into the world of pharmacognosy and botany. The experience combined practical learning with the aesthetic beauty of the garden, reinforcing the significance of preserving medicinal plants for future generations.
This visit was a significant step in enhancing the students’ botanical knowledge and fostering an appreciation for plant conservation.
On 11th January 2025, First Year D Pharm students from SIES SPS participated in the National Level Poster Presentation Competition at Bharati Vidyapeeth’s College & Institute of Pharmacy, CBD Belapur. The event aimed to enhance students' pharmacy knowledge, communication skills, and awareness of pharmaceutical ethics and societal issues.
The competition topics included innovations like 3D printing in pharmacy, stem cell research, herbal medicine regulation, and the role of pharmacists in chronic disease management. Our students, Sunil Gupta, Lokesh Prajapati, Rehan Shaikh, Tausif Alam, and Komal Mhatre, presented their posters, received positive feedback, and gained valuable insights for future endeavors.

On 13th January 2025, SIES IIEM organized an insightful Human Library session led by Ms. Deepa Soman, Founder and MD of Lumière Business Solutions. The session focused on the importance of grounding, observation, empathetic listening, and the CASH framework—Concerns, Aspirations, Stress, and Happiness—as key elements in understanding consumer behavior.
Ms. Soman highlighted the balance between Human Intelligence (ethics, empathy) and Artificial Intelligence (speed, efficiency) in designing consumer-focused innovations. The interactive session encouraged participants to apply these principles in real-world problem-solving and innovation.

On 23rd January 2025, the F.Y. D. PHARM students of SIES School of Pharmaceutical Sciences visited the Chemist Blood Centre, Navi Mumbai. The session, conducted by Mr. Baban Kudkude, provided valuable insights into blood donation procedures, component separation (plasma, platelets, RBCs), and the importance of proper packaging and labelling.
The visit highlighted the life-saving role of blood banks and gave students a deeper understanding of their clinical and operational significance, enhancing their practical knowledge in the field of pharmacy.
On 1st March 2025, First Year D. Pharm students of SIES School of Pharmaceutical Sciences participated in the IEDSSA sports competition held at Government Polytechnic Institute, Bandra. Organized under the A2 zone by MSBTE, the event featured both individual and team sports, fostering physical fitness, sportsmanship, and team spirit.
SIES SPS students took part in the 100 m race and 4 x 100 m relay, gaining exposure to state-level competition and enhancing their confidence and athletic skills.
On 11th January 2025, SIES School of Pharmaceutical Sciences hosted a seminar on Road Safety Awareness organized by Turbhe RTO as part of the ‘Rasta Suraksha Abhiyan’. The session was conducted by Mr. Satish Jadhav, Senior Police Inspector, and Mr. Daya Mahadeshwar, Assistant Sub-Inspector.
Students were educated on the importance of obeying traffic rules, the dangers of overspeeding, triple riding, driving without a licence, and the critical need to wear helmets and seat belts. The session emphasized that safety measures are not just rules but life-saving practices.
The seminar was informative and impactful, leaving students with a strong sense of responsibility towards road safety.
The Student Council of SIES School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nerul, Navi Mumbai successfully organized Cultural Week 2024–2025 to celebrate creativity, fashion, and cultural diversity. The event provided a lively platform for students to express themselves, showcase their talents, and enjoy a break from routine academic life.
Throughout the week, students enthusiastically participated in various theme-based activities that reflected style, unity, and cultural pride. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as students walked the ramp, performed, and dressed up according to the themes. Faculty members judged the competitions and appreciated the creativity and confidence displayed by the participants.

The Student Council of SIES School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nerul, Navi Mumbai organized the Annual Sports Day ‘ATHLERX’ from 20th to 22nd February 2025. The event aimed to promote physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship among students. The inauguration was done by Principal Dr. Saritha Shetty, and the event was led by Sports Secretaries Mr. Arjun Karatagi and Miss Shravani Patil. It began with a lamp-lighting ceremony and the unveiling of the event name.
Students participated in a variety of indoor and outdoor games, including chess, carrom, badminton, football, cricket, athletics, and tug-of-war. Faculty members encouraged and even joined the students in several matches. Winners from each competition were celebrated, with remarkable participation and sportsmanship seen throughout the event. Friendly competitions, like the student vs. faculty tug-of-war, added excitement and joy to the occasion.
The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony. Principal Dr. Saritha Shetty congratulated all participants and appreciated their enthusiastic involvement. A vote of thanks was given by Mr. Arjun Karatagi, acknowledging the efforts of faculty, coordinators, referees, and council members. Overall, ATHLERX 2024–2025 was a great success, leaving behind memorable moments of unity, energy, and fun.
The D. Pharmacy students of SIES School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nerul, visited QSL Laboratories in Belapur to enhance their understanding of pharmaceutical quality control and analytical chemistry. The visit began with a warm welcome and an introduction to the laboratory’s operations, certifications, and adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), accredited by NABL and other regulatory bodies.
Students were taken through various departments including instrumental analysis, microbiology, quality control, and quality assurance. They observed modern analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC, UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, and FTIR, and learned about microbial testing, stability chambers, and documentation protocols. The visit provided a practical demonstration of testing procedures, validation techniques, and regulatory compliance.
The session concluded with an interactive discussion with laboratory professionals, where students gained insights into career paths in analytical chemistry, quality control, and research. Students of First Year B. Pharm (Division A) from SIES School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nerul, participated in the 5th Student Research Congress 2024, organized by SVKM’s Dr. Bhanuben Nanavati College of Pharmacy (Autonomous), held online from 20th to 21st December 2024. Themed "Innovations for Better Health,” the congress aimed to promote and showcase student research across medical and pharmaceutical domains. The event drew participants from across India, spanning undergraduate to doctoral levels, and encouraged interdisciplinary exchange.
Four students from SIES presented innovative healthcare ideas: Miss Bakshind Kaur showcased Medi-Couture, a concept combining bioactive therapeutic wearables and sustainable fashion; Miss Sanjana Lokapur presented SAKHA, a healthcare support device for the elderly; Miss Beryl Gabriel introduced MedLinked, a clinical trial recruitment platform; and Miss Aditi Kakade developed MedEasy, a medication management app. These presentations reflected creativity, critical thinking, and an understanding of real-world health challenges.
The event provided a valuable platform for learning through expert feedback, peer interaction, and exposure to cutting-edge ideas. Five First-Year B. Held at DY Patil University School of Pharmacy, Nerul, the program aimed to enhance soft skills essential for career readiness in the pharmaceutical industry. The event featured engaging sessions focusing on communication techniques, personal branding, and professional networking.
The training involved practical activities to boost verbal and non-verbal communication, such as role-play exercises and interactive games. Students learned techniques like modulating tone and pitch, maintaining eye contact, and using appropriate gestures during interviews. The importance of LinkedIn as a career development tool was emphasized, with guidelines provided on profile building, professional engagement, and strategic networking with alumni and industry experts.

SIES School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nerul, celebrated India’s 76th Republic Day on 26th January 2025 with great enthusiasm, reflecting a strong sense of patriotism and respect for the nation’s democratic values. The event began at 8:30 am with the hoisting of the National Flag by Dr. Saritha Shetty, Principal, followed by the National Anthem sung in unison by all attendees, fostering a collective spirit of pride and unity.
The celebration included a special rendition of the "Maharashtra Geet” performed by B. Pharm students, showcasing the state’s cultural richness. Dr. Saritha Shetty addressed the gathering, emphasizing this year’s Republic Day theme and the vital role education plays in shaping responsible citizens. Mr. Muralikrishnan Nambiar, Registrar, delivered an impactful speech, highlighting the importance of constitutional values and the duty of every citizen to uphold the legacy of our founding leaders.

On 1st March 2025, the SIES School of Pharmaceutical Sciences conducted a Parent-Teacher Interaction in the First Floor Classroom from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm. The objective was to review student attendance, discuss First Sessional performance, address discipline, and gather parent feedback. The session was hosted by Dr. Swati Mittal, Associate Professor, who welcomed all attendees warmly.
Dr. Saritha Shetty, Principal, addressed the gathering and highlighted the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and holistic development. Faculty members provided an overview of the academic framework, library resources, examination system, discipline, and institutional regulations. On 6th March 2025, SIES School of Pharmaceutical Sciences celebrated National Pharmacy Education Day to honor the birth anniversary of Prof. Mahadeva Lal Shroff, the pioneer of Indian pharmacy education. The event, held at the 1st floor classroom, aimed to inspire students by highlighting innovation, entrepreneurship, and the legacy of Prof. Shroff, who introduced India's first full-fledged B.Pharm course at BHU in 1937.
Dr. Priyanka Prabhu, Student Activity In-Charge, introduced the theme: Entrepreneurships and Startups in Pharma and Pharmacy Practice. She encouraged students to explore innovative ideas and seek impactful healthcare solutions. Two notable entrepreneurial journeys were shared—Mr. Prabhdeep Singh, founder of RED.Health, and Ms. Surbhi Sarna, founder of nVision Medical—both of whom turned personal motivations and challenges into successful healthcare ventures.
The celebration inspired students by showcasing real-life stories of perseverance, vision, and impactful innovation. It emphasized the importance of thinking beyond the classroom and pursuing entrepreneurial paths in pharmacy, while paying tribute to Prof. Shroff’s lifelong dedication to pharmacy education in India.
On 3rd February 2025, SIES School of Pharmaceutical Sciences organized a lecture session by Dr. Rajendra (Raj) Sardesai as the inaugural event of its ‘Leadership Lecture Series.’ Held at the Event Hall on the 6th floor, the session focused on understanding patent law strategies in the context of India’s "Make in India” initiative. Padmavibushan Prof. (Dr.) Manmohan Sharma presided over the session, which was hosted by Dr. Neha Chhabra and attended by both industry experts and academicians.
Dr. Sardesai explained intellectual property types and focused deeply on patents—emphasizing that having a patent doesn't automatically allow commercialization. He discussed critical concepts such as patent mapping, novelty, non-obviousness, and the "Technology Push + Market Pull” strategy. Through a detailed checklist, he guided the audience on how to assess commercial potential, market conditions, manufacturing plans, and patent strategies when considering product innovation and localization under the "Make in India” movement.
He introduced the idea of "Design Around” to avoid patent infringement and encouraged analyzing current imports for domestic innovation opportunities. Attendees were also introduced to tools like USPTO, WIPO, and Espacenet for patent searches. Dr. Sardesai concluded by encouraging the blending of traditional knowledge with modern innovation to strengthen India's pharmaceutical sector. The session was well-received by all attendees and successfully bridged the gap between academia and the industry.
The SIES School of Pharmaceutical Sciences organized a guest lecture titled "Passion, Purpose and Pharmacy: Finding Your Way" on 27th February 2025, from 3:30 to 5:30 pm. The session was conducted offline in the B Pharm classroom and was attended by First Year B Pharm and D Pharm students. The speaker, Ms. Vasundhara Jakka, an International Experiential Corporate Trainer, CEO of Mind Spark Consultants and Founder of Read to Lead, delivered a highly engaging and motivational session aimed at helping students align their personal passions and purpose with their professional journey in pharmacy.
Ms. Jakka emphasized how having a strong passion for helping others, when combined with a clear purpose, can lead to a fulfilling career in the pharmaceutical field. Through real-life examples, case studies, and her signature experiential learning style, she encouraged students to believe in themselves, take education seriously, and recognize their hidden potential. Key concepts such as working to one's fullest potential, building self-confidence, and not underestimating oneself were woven seamlessly into the session, resonating deeply with the students.
The session left a significant impact, as reflected in the enthusiastic feedback from the participants. Students expressed how the session motivated them to think bigger, believe in their capabilities, manage time effectively, and chase their goals with renewed determination. A guest lecture on Feminine Health and Hygiene was conducted on 14th February 2025 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm for the benefit of students, with a special focus on empowering girls with essential knowledge about menstrual and reproductive health. The session was delivered by Dr. Rupling Terangpi, a reputed Consultant Gynaecologist at Apollo Hospitals, Navi Mumbai. The primary objective of this lecture was to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene, self-care, and the importance of maintaining physical and emotional well-being.
Dr. Terangpi delivered an engaging and informative session, covering key topics such as menstrual health management, cervical cancer prevention, and contraceptive awareness. She provided practical guidance on managing menstrual symptoms through simple remedies like heat therapy and relaxation techniques, and also highlighted the role of a balanced diet and physical activity. The importance of the HPV vaccine in preventing cervical cancer was strongly emphasized. Furthermore, she discussed various contraceptive options and stressed on the need for safe and informed reproductive choices. Throughout the session, she inspired students to practice self-care and develop self-awareness in their personal health journeys.

A guest lecture titled "Beyond the Bench: Planning Your Four-Year Pharma Journey" was conducted on 18th January 2025 by Mr. Ninad Satam, Local Study Associate Director at AstraZeneca PIL, as part of the Gyaandeep (Unnati) initiative by SIES School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (SIES SPS). Held in the 2nd Floor Classroom from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM, the session aimed to guide BPharm students in shaping their academic and professional path over the next four years. The speaker, a seasoned pharmaceutical professional with over 15 years of experience across top firms like Pfizer, BMS, and IQVIA, shared valuable insights drawn from his extensive industry journey.
Mr. Satam delivered an inspiring and practical talk, beginning with his own educational and career story that resonated with students. He discussed current trends in both the Indian and global pharmaceutical sectors, including digital healthcare evolution and regulatory shifts. The lecture also introduced students to a broad spectrum of career opportunities after BPharm—ranging from higher education options like MS, MPharm, and MBA, to careers in research, regulatory affairs, clinical trials, and marketing. The speaker placed strong emphasis on building a solid professional foundation through CV writing, interview preparation, and job search strategies. He also highlighted the importance of communication skills, professional etiquette, and self-assessment through SWOT analysis.

The SIES School of Pharmaceutical Sciences organized an engaging session on "NEP 2020 and its Major Recommendations” on 24th February 2025 at the Nerul Campus, Navi Mumbai. The session was led by Dr. A. K. Sengupta, Director of the SIES School of Learning and Leadership Development. It aimed to inform students and faculty about the key reforms introduced by the National Education Policy 2020, emphasizing its vision for a flexible, multidisciplinary, and skill-based education system aligned with global standards.
Dr. Sengupta began the session by involving students in an interactive Q and A, gauging their understanding of the current education system and explaining how NEP 2020 proposes to revamp it. He highlighted critical features such as flexibility in course choices, multiple entry and exit points, vocational training, digital learning, and a research-oriented curriculum.
