Mr. Melroy Mervyn D’Sa is an accomplished academician and researcher in the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences, currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutics at SIES School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nerul, Navi Mumbai. He is pursuing his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics at the Institute of Pharmacy, Nirma University, Ahmedabad. He holds an M. Pharm. in Pharmaceutics from SVKM’s Dr. Bhanuben Nanavati College of Pharmacy and B. Pharm. and D. Pharm from MET Institute of Pharmacy.
He started his first professional assignment with Encube Ethicals and served as Project Management Trainee. With experience across several Pharmacy Institutions as an Assistant Professor including Oriental College of Pharmacy, Principal K. M. Kundnani College of Pharmacy, and St. John Institute of Pharmacy and Research, he has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses. He has taught courses such as Pharmaceutics-I Practical, Pharmaceutical Engineering (Theory and Practical), Industrial Pharmacy-I Practical, Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence, Industrial Pharmacy-II and Pharmaceutical Regulatory Science, Intellectual Property Right (IPR) and Hospital Pharmacy and Drug Store Management for the B. Pharm Program. He has also taught courses such as Pharmaceutical Regulatory Affairs (PRA), Quality Management System (QMS) and Pharmaceutical Management Technology (PMT), Drug Delivery Systems, Modern Pharmaceutics, Regulatory Affairs, Product Development and Technology Transfer, Cosmeceuticals, and Pharmaceutics-II Practical for the M. Pharm Program. He has also served as visiting faculty at Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai, S. P. Mandali’s Ramnarain Ruia Autonomous College, and MET Institute of Pharmacy (Degree).
His research interests encompass Novel Drug Delivery Systems, Topical Applications, Ocular Drug Delivery System, Oral and Targeted Drug Delivery, Cosmeceuticals, Film Forming Systems, In-situ Gel Systems, Solid Dispersion Technology, Nutraceuticals, Pharmaceutical Technology, Pharmaceutical Machinery, and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). He leads the Melroy Mervyn D’Sa Research Group (MMDRG) which focuses on multidisciplinary research and innovation in pharmaceutical sciences and has mentored 12 M. Pharm Research Students and 82 Final Year B. Pharm Research Students.
Mr. D’Sa has authored/co-authored research articles, review articles, book chapters, and a textbook, with publications in reputed journals including Green Analytical Chemistry (Elsevier Publication, Impact Factor 6.2, CiteScore 5.7), Microchemical Journal (Elsevier Publication, Impact Factor 5.1, CiteScore 7.2) and Journal of Pharmaceutical Innovation (Springer Nature Publication, Impact Factor 2.6, CiteScore 3.5). His research contributions include 4 granted patents, 2 published patents, 19 research awards, a University of Mumbai Minor Research Grant, and numerous student research projects.
He has received several distinctions, including the Best Research Publication Award (2026), Excellence in Teaching Award (2025), Best Poster Award by ACS Publications, and awards for scientific poster presentations. He is a registered Pharmacist and is associated with professional organizations including the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) and Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE).
His academic philosophy emphasizes innovative teaching, interdisciplinary research, student mentorship, and translation of pharmaceutical research into meaningful healthcare applications.
