The South Indian Education Society (SIES), a symbol of quality and excellence in education since 1932 has a distinct and enduring combination of social values and moral beliefs. Its dedication to education is total. A new star has been born in its horizon from this academic year 2024-25.
The SIES School of Pharmaceutical Sciences approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI Code 8456) and affiliated to the University of Mumbai and recognised and registered with the Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra under DTE code 3710 commences its academic programmes of B. Pharm with a student intake of 100 and D. Pharm with a student intake of 60 from this year. The School has a state-of-the-art facility, going far beyond the curriculum to create industry talent pool in line with the change in Pharmaceutical industry dynamics and disruptions.
Pharmaceutics is the discipline focused on the design of dosage forms, encompassing all aspects of converting drugs or active pharmaceutical ingredients into suitable forms for patient administration.
The Department of Pharmaceutics is dedicated to enhancing the efficacy and safety of therapeutics through comprehensive education and innovative research in drug delivery systems. This department encompasses various unit operations essential for formulation development, as well as the specialized equipment utilized in these processes. Research in this department aims to explore novel dosage forms to cater to unmet needs in drug delivery.

Research in this department involves studying the activity of drugs using in vitro methods and suitable animal models.

The Department of Pharmacognosy is dedicated to providing knowledge in various aspects of natural medicinal products through both theoretical and practical training. This department features a collection of 25 plant species. Research initiatives in this field encompass the extraction and purification of natural active compounds, characterization of natural drugs, development of natural drug products, and evaluation of natural drugs for different pharmacological effects. The department is well-equipped with two undergraduate laboratories, a crude drug museum, herbal garden, and modern equipment necessary for the extraction and isolation of natural medicinal products.
